About Therapist

Luke has a genuine, down-to-earth presence, and holds a non-judgmental space to explore whatever struggles his clients may be facing.

He acknowledges that everyone is unique, and puts a strong focus on acceptance of self, and finding what works best for the individual.

Background

Luke has worked in private practice in Japan, supporting ex-pats like himself with life issues and the added challenges that come with living in another culture. He worked as a Support Worker and Trainer on the Tokyo English Lifeline, providing crisis counselling to those in need.

Qualifications

Luke has completed a Diploma of Counselling, and is a member of the Australian Counselling Association and registered with the Australian Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists

Therapeutic Approach

I put a strong emphasis on understanding oneself through emotional awareness, as I see emotions as signals for our needs. I try to bring together a broad range of therapies, as I recognise that different approaches resonate with different people. I also put a lot of focus on meaning and narrative, exploring what made us the person we are today and where we would like to be going.

Client Experience

I try to ensure that my clients feel accepted no matter what, and that whatever they are struggling with is valid and surmountable. I endeavour to be as authentic as possible, as I want my clients to feel comfortable and relaxed, and that they can trust that I’m a genuine and caring force, willing to fight for their wellbeing.
